SVG is usually the safer handoff for a commercial printer because vector artwork can be rendered at different sizes without losing quality. The World Wide Web Consortium describes SVG as resolution-independent and suited to printing. PNG is a fixed grid of pixels, but a 2048-pixel square gives many ordinary print workflows a high-resolution raster option.

Plan size from the real viewing conditions
For many close-range uses, starting around 1 inch / 2.5 cm wide is reasonable. Treat that as a starting point, not a universal minimum. A longer or more complex URL creates a denser symbol because more data requires more modules. A dense code may need more printed space so each module remains clear.
Viewing distance, camera quality, lighting, material, damage, and print quality all change the result. Protect the quiet zone and the contrast

Keep the QR modules darker than the background. Avoid cropping, stretching, blurring, screenshots, and aggressive image compression. The material can wreck a perfectly good file
A clean digital code can still fail after printing. The GS1 2D Barcode Creation and Printing Playbook calls out glare, creasing, curvature, print inconsistency, and final substrate conditions as scan-performance factors.
- Glossy, metallic, or reflective finishes that create glare
- Curved surfaces that distort the module grid
- Folds, seams, cut lines, and package edges
- Textured or absorbent stock that softens edges
- Low contrast or poor real-world lighting
- Scratches, dirt, damage, or other obstruction
- Logos that cover too much encoded data
Error correction can help with some damage, but it is not a guarantee. A logo deliberately covers data and uses some of that recovery capacity. Custom styling still has to pass the physical proof.

- Approve the full print run only after the physical proof passes.

Static means the destination is fixed
After you generate and print a static QR code, you cannot change the destination inside that printed pattern. Check the URL carefully before paying for ink, signs, shirts, menus, or a thousand tiny cardboard rectangles.
